Getting Ready: Leaving Fair Oaks/Sacramento
We got up at 3 a.m. to do final packing and preparation. I had to get all my stuff in the suitcase and them weigh it to be sure it was under 50 lbs.
Right before we left we went up and said good bye to Robert. We told him we loved him and would be praying for him and looked forward to seeing him when we were together again. I actually was proud of Christine that she didn't get too emotional. It will definitely be a great learning adventure for him.
We left for the airport at 4:12 and arrived at about 4:45. Check in went super smoothly. We checked in at a kiosk and even scanned our passports in the machine. All while Christine was parking the car. After we got our boarding passes we waited for a gate agent to call us up to the counter to check our bags. I also had discovered that on Delta at least internationally we could check two bags each so I checked the rolling duffle I had my coat in. No papers and just a back pack! this is going to be easy travelling.
Sacramento to Salt Lake City

We left nearly 30 minutes late, but it wound up not really mattering at all. The cool thing about this Delta plane was that it had inseat TVs like Jet Blue does. It also had an in flight Trivia Game and contest that you play with any other passenger who signs in. I, of course, became instantly addicted to it and played most of the hour and a half flight to SLC. Most of the time I won and was atop the top ten leader board. We had a relatively short layover there. I quickly tried to recharge the laptop, but had to abandon the task as our departure was iminent
Salt Lake City to New York
This flight was over four hours but it went really smoothly as well. I played a little trivia, watched some TV and even read a bit. I also tried the $8 turkey on foccacia sandwich. Not horrible but not worth $8.
Once in New York we went to a Chili's in the airport and ate. Christine had some southwest eggroll thing, Sue had a hamburger and Zoe and I split chicken fajitas.
Chillin' at Chilis. Christine and Sue working out the world's problem.
Meal 1: Interesting Fajitas from Chili's. They didn't taste bad, but the chicken looked strange.
After dinner we tried to recharge our computers, but in about 20 minutes it was time to board.
New York to Nice
The plane left at about 7:30, near the 7:10 departure time. The flight was not that full so many spread out in the three middle seats. We had two sets of the two seat rows, so we were fine.
They did serve a free meal, but it was not the best. I had the pasta which had a heavy olive flavor and Christine had he chicken. We really weren't that hungry.
After dinner we watched this LukeWilson movie Henry Poole is Here. It was slow, but we actually liked it. Although I really can't imagine who would have agreed to make it.

I tried to sleep, but didn't much. I did listen to that full two hour Radiohead concert from Santa Barbara and that was fun. For me all the flights were smooth and went quickly. Quite a blessing.
